Professional Experience:
Quality Entertainment:
What kind of entertainment are you getting with Lamar?
Make the audience comfortable.
I always do a sound check to make sure that myself or the tracks I sing with are not too loud for my audience and I adjust during the show as well to make sure all are having a good time. (very important)
Before the show even starts, I make it a priority to introduce myself individually to the folks. This makes them feel more relaxed, allows them to acquaint themselves with the entertainer and they are informed on what kind of music they will be listening to.
Audience participation.
During the shows (primarily assisted living/independent living venues) I encourage the folks to sing along if they know the words. And from time to time I will even dance in front of them.
I share brief stories or information during the shows on the particular song or entertainer that I am doing to add variety and add humor as well.
Keep the music/entertainment fresh.
I put great effort into not just singing but entertaining my entire audience. I try to keep the songs fresh for each visit so I am not always singing the same songs.
Ending the show.
I always thank my audience for allowing me to entertain them. I enjoy talking with them after the shows when time allows. I enjoy hearing about how they met Frank Sinatra, or how I sang their favorite song, or anything else they like to share. It's very rewarding for me as an entertainer.
This is not just a way to make a living but its about meeting folks who have lived life to the fullest, sharing their experiences and bringing back wonderful memories for them that maybe they had forgotten!
It's an experience that they will enjoy and they always seem to remember me when I return.
